About David Draiman
David Draiman (born March 13, 1973, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American singer and songwriter best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy-metal band Disturbed. He joined the group in 1996, when it was still known as Brawl, and became central to the band’s distinctive sound with his powerful baritone vocals and rhythmic singing style.
Draiman rose to international prominence with Disturbed’s 2000 debut album The Sickness, which produced major songs including “Down with the Sickness” and “Stupify.” He has also been involved in writing several of the band’s notable songs, including “Indestructible” and “Inside the Fire.”
Before pursuing music professionally, Draiman studied Business Administration, Political Science, and Philosophy at Loyola University Chicago and considered becoming a lawyer. He subsequently worked in healthcare administration before leaving that career to pursue music full-time.
During Disturbed’s hiatus from 2011 to 2015, he formed the industrial-metal project Device with guitarist Geno Lenardo, releasing the band’s self-titled album in 2013. He later returned to Disturbed, continuing his career as one of modern metal’s most recognizable vocalists.
